MyEncore & Encore Pro 1.5 - I could use some help...

Post by derek » Thu Nov 03, 2005 6:47 pm

Good people,
If 1.5 is going to be the wave of the future, I will look into modifying MyEncore. That said, I have heard whispers from Respironics that because of the "success" of MyEncore they are looking into writing an "Encore Lite" designed for end-users and not clinics. I have no details on what features this product would have, but it would probably make MyEncore obsolete.

To help me decide whether the effort to upgrade would be worthwhile I would like to take a look at the structure of the 1.5 database before I take a one-way trip to 1.5, and destroy my ability to work with the existing MyEncore.

If anybody who has made the leap to 1.5 would be prepared to send me a copy of your database file so that I can delve around and make an estimate of what is needed, would you please PM me and I'll send you the instructions.

Thanks
Derek

Derek, I'd venture a bet that one feature any "Encore Lite" that Respironics comes out with will NOT have, is a way to change the prescription via the software. Not that that matters as long as buttons can be pushed.

And not that that has anything to do with your cool program, either. Actually, I can't imagine "MyEncore" ever becoming obsolete. I think there will be plenty of people who will still want to have the full version of the software even though much of Encore Pro is DME oriented and of no use to the user.

Derek,

It would be a crying shame & a disgrace to Respironics, if they don't acknowledge your work & effort. There are many ways they can acknowledge what you have done.

If they merely copy the ideas from your best efforts and never say thanks, they would be acting like (plural rude word inserted).

Reminds me of the odium that occurred in the IT industry when AT&T (who owned Unix) decided to copy many of the great Unix ideas & improvements from Univ Calif Berkeley without acknowledging UCB's contribution.

AT&T lost control of Unix & had to do a (not published) settlement with UCB.

I do hope Respironics are not so stupid as to block your efforts (by deliberately obscuring the db from you) then emulate your efforts as if they do they will have one very angry & very annoyed cpaper here who will let them know in no uncertain terms and who will do what I can to make sure they don't foget what they have done.

Angering your customers is a disastrous path to walk down. Esp if they decide to do something about it.

Cheers

well I ordered a copy of encore pro on Wed - I will see what version I get - if it the the new one and you need some data let me know - I will be running a Pro 2 not an APAP

I can see after I get it all figured out, installed, and running if I can find you some if you still need it
