Hello
My momy is 60 years old. She got sleep apnea many years ago. But we don't know because we never heard such disease in China. Until 4 years old, I worked in the Capital city Beijing of China after I completed degree program. Then I knew the disease from co-worker. I took my mom to the hospital and she was tested and she did get Sleep Apnea. Then I bought the CPAP for her. Although things come better than the time that she didn't use CPAP. But it seems that she still feel some tired.
Anyone who use CPAP has the same experience? I am eager to get suggestion from any kind person.
Now my momy came Canada and visit my family for 1 year. Her things becomes worse and worse. She has lots of yawn everyday. I don't know why. Because she still uses the machine, no any snore at night. But she can't sleep good although she feels so sleepy. I want to help her. But I don't know how to help.
My momy raise 5 children and support 5 children to recieve high eduction. But I must see her becoming older so fast because of the sleeping Apnea.
Who know how much to take a test in hospital of Ontario for a foreign patient?
I desire to get any opinion from any one. I appreciate your kind help.
Where can I help my momy with Sleep Apnea

LindaLi,
I am not a doctor. But my suggestion would be:
1. Get a doctor (any doctor, it could be a doctor friend in China or Canada) to write a prescription for your mother. The prescription should say:
autopap 6 - 20 cm H2O
("6 - 20" is the pressure range you want the seller to set for the machine's pressure, before they send the machine to you.)
After you get that prescription....
2. Go to the website: cpap.com
3. Call the tollfree (800) support phone number.
4. Order a Respironics REMstar Autopap with C-Flex and heated humidifier
You will need to fax or mail the prescription to cpap.com.
If you want to also get a new mask for your mother, I'd suggest you also order two masks from cpap.com (you don't need a prescription for masks):
Swift You don't have to choose a size for the Swift mask...it comes with all three sizes included.
Activa The size called "Shallow" will be the best size for your mother in the Activa mask.
With that machine and those two masks, your mother will probably have very good treatment for many more years. The autopap machine will "read" her breathing all through the night. The autopap will choose which pressure is best for her throughout a pressure range of 6 - 20.
Good luck.
