I'm glad it improved a bit Bob! It does take time, should keep getting better and better. Hopefully you will also start to fall asleep faster.

You may need a few tweaks here and there, but that can come slowly as long as you are better settled in for now.

Jane, you should be able to get your numbers down with the Bipap. Once you get over the cold we can help you titrate your therapy to get the numbers down.

Do you have access to the data? The EPAP is set to get rid of apneas. The IPAP is set to manage hypopneas and other events.

Bob, it does take a while to get used the the ASV portion of this unit. If you used CPAP or BiPAP, you will be fairly used to that action. But when you stop breathing, or your breathing becomes irregular (periodic breathing starts or your breathe shallowly), then the machine will kick in and help regulate your breathing. THAT is a very unnatural feeling. It took me a good six months before I stopped noticing it ALL the time. It still sometimes will awaken me, but not as often at this point.

Also, this will occur most frequently during the time when you fall asleep. This is because your breathing will naturally become instable. There is nothing unusual about that. You might want to read more at the following post.

Specifically, you will want to read the article titled "Ventilation is unstable during drowsiness before sleep onset":

Wow, thanks for the encouragement and the great wealth of information. I really appreciate you taking the time John.
It will take me a while to digest all this.

Just and update.... I slept really well last night. Only woke up once after about 6 hours because of rain out in the hose making a gurgling sound. Dropped the humidifier setting to 1. Down here in Louisiana, we don't need a whole lot of additional humidity it appears.

Still not as perky during the day as I would like to be, but there has been a definite improvement.

Rest Well

Bob
