The S9 machines can also be used with a regular (not slim) hose. There's a setting on the machine for that. I have a knitted hose cover for my regular hose that works well, so I'll use that hose sometimes. But you don't get the benefit of automatic climate control to prevent rainout if you don't use the ClimateLine. At least that's the way I understand it. I don't have an S9 machine (yet).
