Got a new machine, need info on how to program

I am a long time cpap user. Been on a machine for about 15 years now. I forgot what kind of machine I started out with but it was huge. Then I progressed to a slightly newer Respironics and then about 5 years ago, got my current Remstar whatever that used to be my wife's.

I haven't had a sleep study since 1995 and have stuck with 7.5 for the pressure amount. The last two times I got different machines, they were castoffs from my wife who got new machines.

Anyway, I went to the thrift store and picked up a beautiful Remstar 400m with the humidifer and everything for 12.99. Unit appears to be working fine but it is set for 10 pressure.

I am out of work right now so I can't get a sleep study or go to the doctor/medical supply store to get the unit reprogrammed. How can I reprogram it so that it is my 7.5?

Also what is this C-Flex and how should I use that?

This unit will make a massive upgrade from my current machine which is close to death. My current old machine doesn't start up sometimes (starts to spin the fan then dies), the power button no longer works (have to unplugg the machine to turn it off and plug it back in to turn on), and the display no longer works.

Do you know if I will need to use a smartcard reader? I have an old laptop that has a built in smart card reader but I have never used it.

Which Respironics REMStar model NAME is the 400? Is it the Pro? IF it has Pro in the model name I'm sure there is someone here who can e-mail you the Clinicians Manual in pdf or link you to a site to download the manual in pdf

Wait, it DOES say Remstar Pro on the top and Remstar Pro 400m on the bottom.

So it is a pro machine.

Menu for M Series Pro

1. Hold down the <- -> buttons while plugging in the power on the back, wait for 2 beeps, release buttons.
2. Press the + key. <- -> buttons move to next field, -/+ keys decrement/increment
3. Check the following field(s):

-Therapy Mode = CPAP

-CPAP Pressure = NN (4 - 20 cm.)

-C-Flex Setting = (options are off, 1, 2 or 3)

-Ramp Time = (options are 05 to 45 min)

-Ramp Start Pressure = cm (Min. 4cm)

-Mask Alert Feature = On (On/Off)

-Auto Off Feature = Off (On/off)

-Show AHI/Leak Feature = On (On/Off)

Press On/Off button to exit.





==========Resetting LCD Display Data====================

To reset LCD Therapy data (does NOT erase any data from SmartCard):

1. Hold down the (<-) (->) buttons while plugging in the power on the back,
wait for 2 beeps or 5 seconds, release buttons.
2. Press the (->) key and navigate to Therapy screen.
3. Press and HOLD down the (-) minus key for 5 seconds and/or until therapy data is reset to Zero.
4. Press the (->) key to scroll back to main menu, press (+) key to enter Setup or
On/Off button to exit.

I reset the machines therapy data and set it to 7.5.
