I've been on cpap therapy for 3 months now and I'm now noticing that my long term memory is starting to come back. Last night I was remembering things going back 32 years and how I was probably misdiagnosed many years ago since sleep apnea wasn't really mainstream back then.
I recalled being in about grade 8/9 (1978ish) and falling asleep in classes after about 15min, I recall being asleep with my head being buried in my text books and the teacher having to wake me at the end of class. I know I was sent to the family doctor because of my sleeping in class, but don't recall what the result was back then.
After being properly diagnosed earlier this year and knowing the symptoms, I am certain that I had sleep apnea in my teens. I now wonder how much damage was done to my body over those 30+ years.
I'm posting this in hopes of educating parents that if your childrens school is notifying you of the student being tired or falling asleep during class, you need to take action to get a proper diagnoses (Don't let the doctor attribute it to the childs growing years).

Re: Memory coming back after 90 days
Looking back to my University days, I really wonder if it was too much party/drinking/clubbing or was it sleep apnea...
either way, I think I did alot of damage to my brain cells

Re: Memory coming back after 90 days
Feels good doesn't it? I have been on PAP for over a year and memories that I thought I had lost have been resurfacing. I remember having a lot of sleep paralysis in my teens, maybe even before, and I wonder if I wasn't having apneas back then myself!
