Different companies for one thing. The DeVilbiss' offer no expiration pressure relief. Heck, I don't know! These companies charge what the market will bear. Resmed sells more PAPs in the USA than any manufacturer other than Philips Respironics. Between them, Resmed and PR have about 80% of the PAP market in the USA. The others .... DeVilbiss, Fisher & Paykel, Puritan Bennet (Sandman), etc. make up the rest of the market offerings of PAP therapy.

ResMed S9 and H5i machine is a great machine for me

Since I had to pay out of pocket, I certainly resent the Internet policies of ResMed and Respironics (find the price if you can policy), but both manufacturers make really good machines.

Yes, I paid twice as much to get a ResMed S9 with H5I Humidifier and Heated Hose, and this machine works much better for me than my two years on a Respironics M Series Auto. There is just all the difference in the world in the two machine. I am an engineer and really appreciate how well this machine treats my sleep apnea at a much lower pressure and aggressive auto mode.

Much as I love my Resmeds I'd really like to see F&P, DeVilbiss and Sandman devices take off and give the Big Two some REAL competition! Hopefully w/their new fully data capable models they'll be able to start doing so! I have an old schoolmate who has the new F&P Auto and she LOVES it.
