Post by ZQuest » Tue May 18, 2010 2:37 am

Hello: Everyone I really want to take this time to really thank a lot of you on this forum, for all the help that not only have offer me but also to other's.I will try to make this brief, i'm a male in my mid-50's i smoke for more than 25 years, try numerous times to quit but with no luck, best time was around 2 month's cold turkey as they say, this year Before being diagnosed with OSA, i decided to give it one more try, so for my New Years resoulution i Stop smoking, went for my yearly physical and i just mention to the doc that my wife said that i snore a lot and that i stop breathing during my sleep, well the rest is history, sleep study with severed apnea, dme, apap equipment the whole nine yards, bottom line is that it is going on almost six month's without smoking and i BELIEVED that this OSA in a way might have been a life saver in more way's than one.I feel Great!!! no anxiety no with draws,i have got a ton of energy, wife is also very happy in more way's than one we look at each other grinning at one another just like kid.s anymore, this trully has been a life changer i only wish that i would have mention something to my doctor sooner...... Sorry to drag this soooooooooooo much but i do feel very good and just to think it has only been about 3 wk's on treatment and i look foward to going to bed anymore ..... thanking you soooooooooooo very much Phil M.

Great news, guess when you aren't having the life sucked out of you by apnea, you have energy to do other things, like quit smoking.

The way I read it, you quit smoking first and THEN started CPAP?

Congratulations! That's so awesome!!!!

You are taking some huge steps for your health and reaping the benefits. My guess is that if you hand't quit smoking you'd have a lot harder time on CPAP because your lungs would be more limited and your skin less resilient to tolerate the mask, etc.

Although I've never personally experienced it, I've heard that quitting smoking is one of the hardest things in the world to do, and you have done it. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wishing you a long, happy, healthy life!

I am so happy for you, Phil! You have taken charge of your life and your health. If your experience with CPAP is anything like mine, it will only continue to get better and better!!!

Glad to hear that your wife is happy too.
