I need the quietest machine

Post by Buccaner Sue » Sun May 16, 2010 11:29 am

Hello everyone. I was just diagnozed this friday that I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. I will be getting a loaner machine this week for my trial period. Before I end up buying one, does anyone know about a very quiet machine? My husband is NOT looking forward to hear this thing operate and thinks he's going to have to move into a different bedroom. I'd like him not to so need the quietest make out there! Thanks!

Here is a link to a discussion comparing the 2 newest machines, the Resmed S9 AutoSet and the Phillips Respironcs System One Auto:

While noise is a consideration, you should also think about which machine will best suit your therapy needs.

Masks also vary in vent noise, and you should try on several to compare.

My wife and I have been on CPAP for a little over a month and a half. We started with the low-end (no data) Respironics System One CPAP machines the DME supplier gave us the first month. When we decided we weren't willing to accept not having data, we switched providers to get Resmed S9 APAP machines.

Both brands of machines are quieter than the cooling fan in the Netbook laptop my wife keeps on her nightstand.

yes, what they said!

If you are getting an auto....
the s9 autoset you cant even HEAR if its on or not.
I traded is my PR system one A flex for the S9 because it was more quiet..
however my system one might have not been the norm..
the system one was pretty darn quiet too, except for that TONE..
I could hear.
