HOW TO KNOW WHEN TO REPLACE FACE CUSHION...

Post by Paul56 » Sun May 09, 2010 6:08 pm

...ON A FULL FACE MASK.

Yeah. The first thing is to wake up and realize the therapy isn't going well.

I've been sleepy during the day for the past week. Finally woke up enough this morning to check my
overnight numbers.... AI of 12.

Looked at the face cushion... it is all gone opaque, seemingly doesn't keep its shape too well,
the surface is slippery even when washed and I have a lot of trouble getting it to seal. Duh!

Installed new face cushion and went for a 2 hour nap. AI of 1.

I'm looking forward to a really good nights sleep, ONCE AGAIN, this evening.

Forme...I need to replace my Quattro cushion every 90 days at maximum...A little sooner if I am having sealing problems.
The cushion on my Comfort Gel Nasal lasts a little longer.

AHI of 3.4 last evening... so everything back to normal.

And yes, I can feel the difference.

Note to Self: Increase inventory of spare face cushions!

I find washing my cushion with diswashing soap removes oil and helps it seal better but eventually everyone needs a new cushion. If you ever say," This mask used to work so well but now it sucks (or blows)!" you might need a new cushion.

The new ones have an almost "tacky" feel to them. Once that's gone, it's time to replace. The cloudiness comes MUCH later than that. I've never hung on to one long enough to see it go "opaque"...
