Swift FX tweaks for 3 mask issues....

Post by bob007 » Sun May 09, 2010 3:23 pm

Hi guys,

I was using the Swift LT but switched to the FX because of pressure on my upper lip, gum and teeth. I'd wake up and noticed pressure between my upper and lower teeth that subsided during the day, but after a night's sleep returned. (I've had a recent upper front tooth implant) The cycle continued. So the FX is less pressure than the LT but still is causing tooth problems. I'm also experiencing leaks and the hose is bothersome as it does not have the option to attach to a clip at the top of the head.

So here is what I did to fix things:

I took the clip off the LT and used electrical tape to attach it to the top of the FX harness. I then thread the hose up over as I did with the LT. It works great. There is virtually no pressure on my lip and the hose is out of the way. The LT still gave pressure even with the hose up and over. I fixed the leak by using the largest pillows. I had "0" leaks last night.

Offered this in case anyone else is having these same issues.

I too have found that the Swift FX leaks if the hose is pointed 'down' toward my chest instead of 'up' over my head. Not having an LT to scavenge a clip from, I got one of those Velcro cord holders to wrap around the hose and the upper silicone part of the headgear. The particular cord holder I used was a little uncomfortable on my head, so I am going to switch it out for a more simple piece of string tonight. But yeah, whenever the weight of the hose pulled the mask down at all, I got leakage from the distal end of my nostrils (the tip of my nose--far from my upper lip).
