Hey Everyone,

I ordered my new Vantage S8 Auto through the CPAP for Seniors and she called me today and said that they are in and she is sending me one today. She said that I can order the software (she said it uses 5.6 software) separately from CPAP.com so I am doing that next month (spent too much $$ this month)

She did mention that you can only use the EPR when you are in CPAP mode and not in AUTO mode.

I will let everyone know also how I like it.

Judy

Hope that you like yours I have good luck with my bigger Spirit. I noticed that ResMed web page so far is keeping a low profile about the EPR feature. If you also order the humidifier with it you can now fill it without having to take any hoses off or use a funnel!

Hey John,

Yes, being able to fill the tank without taking it off and spilling the water all over the place, is a plus already.

I have the Auto Respond now and I don't like it because there is no software for it and I want to be able to see how I am doing each night. That is why I just waited for the new one to come out.

After I am on it for a while and before I get the software, I will take it to my Pulmonologist's office and his repiratory therapist can read it out for me but once I get the software, I can check it myself and if something is not right, I can call the office. They are very willing to work with me on me taking charge of my own breathing. That is a big plus!

When you get your new machine. The sprint can still give you readouts of maximum pressure, AHI and hypopneas per hour at a daily average, weekly average, monthly average, 6 months average and yearly average while you are waiting to save up for your software!

In essence this new Vantage is just a smaller Spirit? The software is the same as the Spirit or is it updated?

A smaller Spirit wth a redesigned humidifier and a EPR feature added to the CPAP mode. It does appear to need a updated software to read from it.

Yes, that is what Benita told me at CPAP for Seniors that it uses the 5.6 software the same as the other ones.

I got an e-mail saying they have shipped the machine so I should be getting it soon.

My main excitment is that I will be able to see how I am doing on it. Will keep you guys posted.

What Happened to EPR?

Post by deltadave » Fri Oct 14, 2005 5:10 am

Hmmm, seems like the discussion on the ResMed EPR tailed off somewhat.

However, if anyone is still interested, I did create a few waveform analyses on how it works:

ResMed EPR

The overall point is, while this is a very comfortable adjunct, you could be changing your therapy utilizing it. And I'm not sure if anything short of PSG could say for sure if if it is addressing your events (particularly arousals).

However, certainly using this in the ramp mode only would have no issues that I could see.
