Post by loosescrews » Thu Oct 13, 2005 6:19 pm

Can anyone tell me if there is a non medical way of curing this problem? Im 36, 200 lbs 5"9 , I don't think my weight is an issue but im not sure Sick of waking up in the night gasping for air, and my wife is tired of it too. Sometimes i sleep all the way through but she says i snore to much sometimes I wake up and start frantically yelling help me.

RUN, don't walk to your doctor and get tested for sleep apnea. Sounds like you are one of us. Don't fool yourself....weight is a factor. Please get help now or you might not come awake asjing for help. Take it as an omen.

Me thinks you need to see a doctor or tell your wife to stop covering your mouth with the pillow to squelch the snores.

Seriously though, I would see a sleep specialist.

AFAIK, any "cure" involves a doctor. What most of us have isn't a cure, it is a treatment. For some of us it will be all night, every night, for the rest of our lives.

To be honest, it beats the alternative. The alternative is a much shorter life (apnea kills! It isn't "if" but "when") and a significant degradation of the quality of what life you have left.

See a doctor. And read, lots, here and elsewhere. Ask questions.

Good luck.
