I turned off C-Flex

Post by SnoreNoMore2005 » Tue Oct 11, 2005 4:43 pm

I've been using a Remstar Auto since July 2005. I started out with C-Flex-3 and was on C-Flex-1 for the last month or two. Three nights ago I turned off C-Flex completely just to see what would happen. My AHI and other numbers didn't change but I feel I have slept more soundly without C-Flex on. I'm not sure why although I think Will once gave a long explanation about how C-Flex gets you out of sync with your natural breathing rhythm.

My 90% pressure is only 9.0 which is relatively light. I'm sure for the heavier pressure users, C-Flex is a God_send, but I wanted to let people know that experimenting without C-Flex might be worth a shot.

C-FLEX can be a problem for some, but is great for others. The only way to know is to try the different settings, including the "OFF" setting.

Glad that you found out what works for you.

I too turned it off & found my wife & I both ended up getting better sleep.

I know of 3 other folk who also tried CFLEX off & said it improved sleep for them.

It was a very helpful feature when I started xPAP. I may try it again sometime but these days I am going to bed & switching on at 14 (sometimes 15)cms straight up & no ramp.

Seems to me the no ramp helps to very quickly get air thru my usually stuffed up nose. The breathing out can be a bit of an offort but at least I get the air in easily.

It appears that CFLEX like ramping, can be a wonderful "training tool" when first getting started for some people. But once accustomed to this new, unnatural lifestyle they can get rid of the "training wheels".

I may be one of the people to whom DSM was referring. I didn't need it and had experienced one night where my breaths became stacked. Now, I don't panic easily USUALLY, but it scared me a bit. I turned off the CFlex then and never looked back. I'm just fine without it. I am at 10 cms., by the way.
