OT: If the FDA regulated automobiles

Post by Snorebert » Wed Dec 16, 2009 2:07 pm

If automobiles were regulated like CPAP:

-You would need your doctor to send you to a transportion lab to see if you really need a car.
-The transportation lab would hook you up to a bunch of electronic monitors and make you run around in circles.
-If you started to slow down or take breaks, they might outfit you with a car but they would control the speed.
-If that seemed to help, they would rent you a car of their choosing
-The car would be set to run at one speed.
-It would have no speedometer or oil pressure guage.
-They would come by and check to see if you were driving it at least four hours/day. If not they might take it away.
-If you wanted to buy a new seat cover, you would need to prove that you had doctors' orders for one.

You COULD got to a dentist for all of this but the dentist can only get you a Vespa.

IMO much regulation is to protect the jobs and status of the sleep disorder professionals

we will soom have CPAPS that can diagnose apnea and automatically adjust to the required pressure

home oxygen level sensors are available, most of us but not all have oxygen levels that go down during sleep
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

The Good thing, we could all get one on Medicare, the downside the DME, would only give out unicycles, And we would be forced to wear blinders to prevent us from seeing roadsigns. To farther protect us all intersections would have red lights that would all be lit up red at once and would never change (No Green) Jim

I think we need more regulation on many things.

Let's start of with driving. Anyone can get a drivers license and drive. In Illinois a truck driver could buy a license and not be able to read or write English. Oh wait the guy that was selling those licenses went to jail.
We should regulate vehicle because they kill so many people in accidents.

People should be required to get a license to have childred. Hey we need a marriage license and blood test to make sure we aren't related.

Any other suggestions?
