Combining records on Encore Pro

Post by Gerryk » Wed Dec 16, 2009 9:01 am

Does anyone know how to or if it is possible to combine two data records on encore pro.
Say for instance I have the data from my card for Nov 1st-15th and in a separate file my data from Nov 15th to 30, can I combine those so they are one record?

Thanks

Gerry

I am not sure what you mean but I made a new folder in "My Documents" when I first started getting data and each day, or whenever I read data, I put the report in that folder, in PDF format using PrimoPDF -a free program), and rename it to the applicable date.

I have Encore Viewer and I don't know if the same thing is possible with Encore Pro.

No, EP pro can make a pdf out of your records. My data was recorded for a certain date and deleted from the card. So I am trying to combine the data that was deleted with the data that is still on it.

Perhaps It would be better to ask if I can add older data that was erased to the data that is now on the card so I have one file covering a bigger time period.

Hi Gerryk,

PDF files are, effectively, just "pictures" of your data in an Encore Pro format. Thus, they are not like a spreadsheet. The underlying information is in a database, which would allow you to combine periods if you knew how to access it. But the format is proprietary Respironics so you really need to understand what you are doing - this is not for the faint of heart or the non-database literate.

I think that James Skinner's Encore Pro Analyzer program can do the combining of data. Try looking up Encore Pro Analyzer. James has a busy life, but try asking him if this something Analyzer can do.

If you do find a way to do this, I would like to know. James' Analyzer program won't work with my machine.

Happy Naps,
Mr Capers

It is POSSIBLE to combine them, but not easy, apparently. I'm pretty sure EP Analyzer won't do it.

I read my card nearly every morning. That means I have each day's data in seven different records. So my database is effectively seven times bigger than it needs to be.

I have researched SQL databases, looking for a utility to do that. I see references to a "Join" command, but that requires getting far deeper into the nuts and bolts than I want to learn. So far, I haven't found any easy solution. We need a geek with some spare time!

Mr. C I am fully aware of what a pdf file is and wasn't looking to combine then, rather combining the raw data that is in the data base.

I know there has to be a way and not a real involved or complicated way to do this.
