Ack, mold!

Post by Scarlet834 » Mon Dec 14, 2009 9:51 pm

Well I thought I had dried my first nasal pillow completely before I bagged it to try a replacement and compare leakage. Evidently not! Luckily I still have an unused pillow from the great pillow swap (so I have a working pillow plus backup). I have no desire to even think about disinfecting. Took about a week unattended to become populated with little black measles. Pillow number one is retired to the trash after two months of good service.

I do bag things up, but I never bag it if their is any chance of moisture still being on it. I learned a while ago as you just did to wait until it is completely dry.

Pop some of those sachets that you get with tablets, into your bag. Those sachets contain a harmless absorbent for humidity and odor.

I throw them out immediately because we have dogs in the house. Although our son is 10 years old you never know, I don't chance it.

On another note, I have used white vinegar on mold but I never had any on my cpap equipment.

It works. After washing, I spray my still wet silicon, plastic shell, and humidifier tank with white vinegar and let them sit for several minutes before rinsing well and airing dry. Got pink slime in tank during one of our notorius Southern heat spells...sprayed with vinegar, then found a bottle brush I could bend to the angles inside and scrubbed well. Rinsed, washed again, and sprayed with the vinegar, let sit, aired dry...learned my lesson, spray with vinegar daily.
