Re: What is the difference between these machines??
Susan,
The Elite is a straight CPAP machine meaning that it can only provide therapy at a set fixed pressure.
The Autoset is BOTH a straight CPAP machine, as described above, and also an automatic machine that can adjust pressure within a set range depending on detected events.
The Autoset is desirable because it provides the user with therapy options.

Model S8 Elite Series II is a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) flow generator. It blows 1 defined pressure.
Model S8 AutoSet Series II is an auto-titrating continuous positive airway pressure (APAP) flow generator. It blows varying pressures as needed to support stable breathing within a defined range of pressures. The device can be set in APAP or CPAP mode.

Re: What is the difference between these machines??
I know the difference, but the seller who's auction I won earlier this month apparently does not. The auction lists and pictures an AutoSet II, talks about APAP, right product ID, etc, but what I got was an Elite II.
As expected the seller is nowhere to be found, so now I get to do the PayPal dispute and probably just get stuck with an Elite II. Grr.

If that was CPAPAUCTION.COM, contact THEM, report the fraudulent seller and see if there's any information they can give you to deal with that seller.Llama wrote:I know the difference, but the seller who's auction I won earlier this month apparently does not. Hopefully, the price you paid for the Elite II was reasonable.

That's so bad! Please let us know how this turns out. What auction site was it? Did you pay with Paypal cash or credit card?Llama wrote:I know the difference, but the seller who's auction I won earlier this month apparently does not. Re: What is the difference between these machines??
It was indeed cpapauction.com and paid for through PayPal.
I reported the transaction to PayPal and contacted the seller directly, but still waiting to see what happens.
I contact cpapauction.com first and they said that they really didn't have a role in this dispute and for some reason seemed like they were not really interested in blacklisting the seller for item misrepresentation. The person I emailed with just said that maybe it was a mistake and they chose the wrong item one time and it populated all of the info, set the item type, inserted default stock pictures and descriptions, etc.
I kind of get their position, but it is still the suck to have the unit sitting in a box in my living room waiting to go back.
FWIW, the seller also misrepresented the item condition as Used Less Than One Night when it has 132 blower hours AND did not include the power cord. Took forever to arrive too, despite the clearly high but clearly posted, shipping fees, which compounded my disappointment when I opened the box and it was immediately clear that I had the wrong thing.
Truthfully, the price was pretty steller (to me) for an AutoSet II and honestly not bad for an Elite II, but that wasn't what was listed or what I or the others bid on. Now I guess that I am just going to have to wait it out to see what happens next.

I'm sorry to hear that, Llama.Llama wrote:I know the difference, but the seller who's auction I won earlier this month apparently does not. The auction lists and pictures an AutoSet II, talks about APAP, right product ID, etc, but what I got was an Elite II.

Does the Seller's feedback indicate any similar issues with previous buyers? I hope the issue is resolved to your satisfaction, and soon.

Re: What is the difference between these machines??
This is really upsetting to me on many levels.
First off the misrepresentation of an item makes this auction site seem less than reliable. The fact that Cpapauction is not going to take any action so that this seller can't sell ontheir site is also disturbing especailly since Llama can't even find the seller now and there is no way for us to know who this seller was so we can makesure we don't buy anything from this person either.

Re: What is the difference between these machines??
In cpapauction's defense, the validity of the item description is really up to the seller themselves when they list.rise&shiner wrote:off the misrepresentation of an item makes this auction site seem less than reliable.
I could point some of the blame at cpapauction.com IF it is indeed a matter of a simple mistake that can pre-populate an entire auction with the wrong info based on a single mistaken button click. Again, while the seller is ultimately responsible for making sure that the auction is correct it may be beyond the scope of a patient selling a used machine to actually comprehend what they have done. The buyer can enhance reliability of the system by asking explicit questions or for actual photos of used devices I guess.
FWIW, the auction had 3 stock pictures of the AutoSet II it was listing, 1 stock VPAP picture, 1 what looks like actual picture of the Elite II and 1 what looks like actual picture of the H4i. In hindsight, I should not have assumed that the title, product ID, description or first 3 pictures (including the large default picture for the auction) were correct.
THIS does disturb me; while I understand that their role in this particular transaction was really ended once the auction closed, I am quite upset that the person I spoke to seemed to have very little interest in blacklisting the seller by ID, email or paypal account. If the seller did magically return to the Land of the Living and give me back my money for his unit there would be absolutely nothing to prevent him from relisting it! And due to the same busted feedback system as eBay, if I leave him negative feedback he will do the same for me, despite me as the buyer doing everything correctly other than accept misrepresented and non functional equipment. The fact that Cpapauction is not going to take any action so that this seller can't sell ontheir site is also disturbing especailly since Llama can't even find the seller now and there is no way for us to know who this seller was so we can makesure we don't buy anything from this person either.

Look I know this is cold comfort allowing for the deal being less that honest, but if I had the choice between a cheaper Elite II (with EPR) and an Autoset II (also with EPR), I'd have no hesitation in taking the Elite because with EPR I would *never* use the Auto mode. The Elite gives the same data as the Autoset II & with EPR it doubles as an optimum but minimal bilevel & that would suit me well.
If you do get stuck with it due to not being able to sort out the seller, you still have a great machine.
Good luck either way
