Hi, Mr. Sleep, and welcome to the forum.Mr. Sleep wrote:I am a newbie on the cpap. I am clear that Total Leak = Intended Leak (by mask manufacturer) + Unintended Leak. My problem is that my Total Leak is 14 l/m and the Intended Leak is 28 l/m. That would yield a negative Unintended Leak.
Does that suggest a defect with the mask? Should I worry about rebreathing (CO2 levels)?
I have a Remstar Pro m-series at 8cm pressure, and a Swift LT.
Suggestion 1: Please fill out your profile (User Control Panel, top left) and list the equipment you're using (choose TEXT, please), and include any details about your therapy or diagnosis in the Comments section. All of that pertinent info will be included at the bottom of your posts, which will help us to give you tailored advice whenever you have a question.
Suggestion 2: Start a new thread ("Post A New Topic") with "Leak Rate Too Low" or something similar in the title, to get the attention of the more experienced members on the forum. You'll find lots more help that way, as your question is buried in this thread of different subject matter and will likely go unnoticed by many.
Personally, I have no idea why you'd be getting a reported leak rate that's half of what it should be. The only explanation I've seen here for lower-than-normal leak rates is the possibility that the exhaust (vent) holes on the mask were blocked (by a pillow or blankets, for instance). Sorry I can't offer you more of a concrete answer, but if you start your own thread, you'll get more help.
Nope, not unusual at all. It's something to look forward to when you know the therapy is working.littleredtree wrote: funny, I can't wait to go to bed now days. Is that unusual? I
love sleeping now days.
Ditto. It's a good thing we have this forum, where others understand us so well and don't give us the when we sound so nutty.GaryG wrote:I can't wait either so I have more data to look at in the morning. I probably need to get a life.
