Collecting additional data to help therapy?

Post by JPO » Wed Dec 09, 2009 10:08 pm

My numbers are very low but I'm still sleepy. I don't feel I'm getting into deep sleep. I'm ordering up a CMS Model 50-F oximeter to check my oxygen levels - I'm using an oxygen concentrator because I had low levels during my sleep study. I had low levels when I was in the hospital for surgery early 2009 so it may be an inherent problem. In reading reviews of oximeters here I saw where the recorded heartbeat may indicate that the person is sleeping. It doesn't show the level of sleep, of course. I'm interested in measuring my level of sleep. I realize that the technology doesn't exist for home use of the machinery necessary to do this, but does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on the subject of collecting additional data to help therapy?

A couple of thoughts......

Are you getting ENOUGH sleep?

Are you using straight Bi-PAP or "Auto" with some pressure ranges? (I see that you have 10 and 15 in your profile)

Do you have any version of the Encore software? (to see what's going on)

Might investigate the Zeo, it's supposed to ID sleep stages I think. Been some pros and cons posted here.
ResMed S9 range 9.8-17, RespCare Hybrid FFM

Wulfman, I am not getting enough sleep and I need to take more time off so I'm sure that is contributing but the tiredness is deep and terrible.
I am using straight BiPap and Encore Pro. My AHI for last night was 1.3, the lowest I've every had with zero snores and no leaks above the standard outflow. Thanks for the response.
