I have been using the Elite since starting cpap and use the mask fit feature nightly to see if I have a good seal and give me a couple of minutes to settle into bed. When using this feature I do not know when the machine goes into cpap mode as I notice no change in sound level or pressure available.
This evening I placed the Elite II into service. After going through the menus I started the machine in mask fit mode at which time the air pressure/machine noise seemed to be some louder than the Elite. I was the able to tell when the machine went into cpap mode as, it seemed to me, that the air pressure was reduced and the machine noise was reduced. I could not hear the machine, the mask was quiet, the air pressure felt considerably less and for a trial run I liked the machine. I even had my hearing aids in and on and did not notice any noise. After all that my question is, does anyone else, who uses the mask fit feature, notice the change in noise/pressure when transitioning into cpap mode?
Thanks,
Fred

Re: Elite II Mask Fit Feature Question
I have the S8 Autoset II, which is also made by Resmed. This is what I have noticed. When the Mask Fitting Feature is on, you are receiving your full pressure, in order to test.
If you have a Ramp setting (starting lower, then ramping up to your full pressure) for say, 5-40 minutes, then when you turn your cpap on, you are in Ramp, so it will be lower at first.
I hope that helps.

Re: Elite II Mask Fit Feature Question
KatieW,
Thanks for your reply. I used the mask fit feature last night and I experienced the change in pressure again. I do not use ramp or epr. I think it must be the easy breath technology starting when the change occurs. It is no big deal just wandering what it might be. I know my wife likes the Elite II as she advised she did not hear it all during the night.
Thanks again,
Fred
