My Dad is at his second sleep study

Post by Jaylee » Wed Dec 02, 2009 10:06 pm

He was with me the day I went to the neurologist's appointment for my temporary blindeness. That was when the doctor asked me a lot of questions to see if I could possible have OSA. My Dad was like "Um, I fit that same description!" So he made his own appointment with my doc and tonight he is at his second sleep study to see about getting PAP therapy. He has many symptoms and his oxygen level's dropped to below 50% on his first study, like mine did. I am hoping that they are able to get him situated with a therapy plan to help him get good quality sleep, like they have helped me

Good for him - and you! That's scary stuff there - 50%!!!!! I'd venture to say compliance won't be an issue for either of you. That would scare the excuses right out of me. Good to hear you both are on the right track - any other family members that should get checked? Hope his adjustment phase is swift and painless.

Kathy

He did not adjust well to the masks they had him try out. I am hoping that he will learn to sleep with one on, because he really needs the therapy!

Make sure he tries out all the styles: nasal, pillow, hybrid (RespCare Hybrid and ResMed Liberty), and other FFM to find one that fits well and he'll tolerate. And, then, there's always Babette's favorite, the Nasal Aire II which sorta looks like the therapy mask used to deliver oxygen.
