rudolph the red nose

Post by mouse » Mon Nov 30, 2009 4:47 pm

I am new to the CPAP program, I have a ResMed Quatro full mask and after three weeks the bridge of my nose is very sore.I have tried strap adjustments, nose mask( disliked the chin strap to keep my mouth shut) and am a mouth breather anyway, non toxic molding material that we use in work to create a cushion, all unsuccessful . Looking for suggestions

Ah that red nose will go away after the 25th anyway so don't worry about it.

Ok, Just kidding there. Welcome aboard!

I have the quattro too and I will tell you what everyone else is going to say correct mask size and proper adjustment of the mask are critical. What size mask to you have?
I had tried other masks and needed a large mask but the quattro runs big so I needed a medium mask. I have not heard of one person yet who needed a large quattro. Did you order the mask yourself or did a DME size you for the mask you have?

Next get the manual out on the mask and go over putting the mask on and adjusting it. Then sit in front of a mirror and put it on according to the instructions until you have it on correct, then do it a few more times. Now as far as tightening up the straps on this mask, you want the dial adjusted out so it holds the mask away from your forehead. Keep the straps loose and slowly tighten them up but not too tight. The mask cushion needs to fill up with air to seel. Once the cushion fills with air you can slowly dial that top dial in but not too far.

Good luck.

Thanks for your response Gerry, I have been fitted by DME and I am using a medium mask. I will apply your method that you have provided and give it more time to become acclimated.
