Happy with DME price

Post by bailachel » Mon Nov 30, 2009 10:42 am

I have had my PR System 1 for 2 months now on a rental basis. The DME is going to switch it to purchase since I like it (still hoping for software) and am compliant.

The price they are going to charge my insurance company is only $21 higher than the regular price for the machine on CPAP.com. or $126 higher than the current sale price on CPAP.com. And of course, they are going to deduct the 2 months rental which has already been paid.

My cost will only be $150 - 2 months rental copay. Actually, it may be less since I pay 20% of the allowed benefit and I don't know what that will be yet. I was worried about the cost after reading some of the threads but this seems entirely reasonable to me.

Doesn't sound bad as long as you can afford it. But also you are keeping on a positive note with your DME. That is your cost for the mahine, hoses mask and everything correct? If so that isn't bad at all.

The price is for the PR System 1 only. That was the only rented part. So I compared it to the price for just that piece of equipment online. I'm waiting to see what the allowed cost is. I have to pay only 20% of that. I was happy to see that the price they charge the insurance co is comparable to the price one would pay on line. There seem to have been so many instances mentioned where the price the DME charged was much, much higher than the online cost. It's nice to know that I was referred to a reasonable one.
