Encore Pro questions
1. How do I view a detailed report for multiple days? The only way I've figured out how to view detailed reports is to right-click one of the items in the Interaction List and choose View Interaction Report. This report only contains the data from that batch of downloaded data. How do I include other "Interactions" as well?
2. What are the main differences between Encore Pro and Encore Viewer (besides all the administrative patient management functions)? As far as I can tell, the reports are mostly the same. The only real difference I can see is the ability to erase a card.
It feels like I'm missing something with EP. I thought you EP let you do many of the clinicians setup functions on the card instead of on the xPAP's menus.
Thanks!
Dave

You SHOULD see multiple daily detailed reports unless your erasing your card each time you download. If you ARE erasing after each download, you can turn off that option in the program menu. When you have multiple days, there should be a starting and ending date in the details options. It defaults to the first available day that is stored on the card and the latest date.

Encore Pro stores the downloaded data in an SQL database. Viewer shows what is available from the card when it is read by the program.

I believe it would actually take longer to program the machine through the card than to push a few buttons. I don't consider that feature to be an "advantage", anyway
Thanks!

Re: Encore Pro questions
Hey Den - I had to reformat the card yesterday when EP corrupted the card (plugged into a USB hub instead of directly to the PC). So the reports are based on batches of data read from the card instead of what's in the SQL tables?Wulfman wrote:You SHOULD see multiple daily detailed reports unless your erasing your card each time you download. Well, it gives daily details reports for each night and it also shows trend lines......along with cumulative totals (mostly hours and some averages) at the end of the report.
If you (additionally) get Encore Pro Analyzer from James Skinner, it will give even better statistics for various data within the database. Then you won't have to worry about whether your card gets erased because it interrogates the whole database for its reports.

Re: Encore Pro questions
I always use the Create Prescription via SmartCard option in EncorePro (EP) to change the Device Prescription on my M-Series AutoCPAP.
Using EP for my RXs provides me with two benefits:
1) I don't have to write down each new Device Prescription and the date/time that I made the change (and then remember where I put my notes so I can find them later) since EP creates and includes my "New Device Prescription" as an interaction in its Interaction List. For example, a user can scan EP's Interaction List for "New Device Prescription" interactions and view and/or print them whenever she/he needs the information for analysis.
2) More importantly for my analyses purposes, EP appends each new device prescription to an SQL Table which I access in my Excel Charting Program. I use this table to obtain the matching device prescription information for sleep sessions that I am analyzing. The Device RX information includes: Date & Time of change, machine S/N, and parameter values such as Min & Max pressure.
If you own EncorePro and are tweaking your therapy pressure / pressure ranges by analyzing your nightly events (and following the pressure setting recommendations of knowledgeable CPAPTalk members), go to your Patient Homepage and click on Create Prescription => Device Prescription => Presentation Wizard / Next => Via SmartCard / Next and select and enter your new RX parameters using the EP provided input screens. When done, click Finish, take your SmartCard and insert it into your machine. The changes you just made will be in effect the next time you use your machine.
For me, the EP change RX process is much quicker than doing it with the machine buttons AND then having to write all the changes down for future reference purposes.

cinco777,
The difference between your machine and his is that he's using a CPAP with one pressure and you're using an Auto with a range of pressures. His has fewer things to change and is much simpler to interpret the data. Not that much to write down or commit to memory.

Re: Encore Pro questions
My posting was a general response to the general statements quoted above. I've found that the EncorePro Device Prescription feature offers benefits, the primary one being that EP will remember your changes digitally - you don't have to write them down and remember where you put them. YMMV.It feels like I'm missing something with EP. I thought you EP let you do many of the clinicians setup functions on the card instead of on the xPAP's menus.

Re: Encore Pro questions
Thanks Cinco - I didn't think to look under Prescriptions.
Can I ask one more question, or will that cost me a second fee?
Is there any way to migrate my data from one machine to another? I finally got EP working on a Vista 64 machine, but some of my data is on another box.

Re: Encore Pro questions
Once you install the program in the other computer, there are a couple of ways. One is to find the directory where the database files are located and use a USB jump drive and copy the whole directory to it and then copy it to the other computer.desert rider wrote:Thanks Cinco - I didn't think to look under Prescriptions.

The other way is to do an "export" from the one computer and an "import" on the other.
Personally, I like the copying to the USB drive because it's faster and cleaner.

Re: Encore Pro questions
Just another opinion. I use the export Patient name from one system and then import Patient name on the other system.
When I was developing my Excel Charting program, I used three PCs: one for development, one for initial tests, and one for final test (my wife's PC). I exported my Patient name file and tranferred the exported file to the test PCs quite often (via my home network). I also wrote an Excel macro to change the SQL query connection string so my program could access the EP SQL database on each system (each system has its own unique Workstation ID name).
Exporting my Patient name is now part of my CPAPInfo backup to CD process which I do every few days. My CPAPInfo folder includes all my spreadsheets (some change daily), newly saved articles from the Internet (including CPAPTalk threads/postings), scanned articles/documents, and various other "I don't want to lose them" if my HDD/PC/house disappears. I also backup all my digital financial/family tree/... records frequently and store them offsite. In 26 years of using PCs, I've been burnt and now try my best to avoid losing important data.
