Impressive (I thought!) durability from Elite II

Post by Catnap » Sun Nov 22, 2009 12:54 pm

Yesterday morning, I heard a loud thud in my bedroom and, on inspection, found my Elite II upside down on the floor (hardwood covered with only a thin area rug). Apparently, one of the cats or dogs had been tearing around and got tangled in the hose or cord (or maybe slid across the nightstand -- you never know with cats! Or, for that matter, Corgis) in such a way that it flipped the machine to the floor.

Incredibly, even with a nearly full humidifier, almost NO water leaked out! It was pretty much all contained in the humidifier chamber. Just to be safe, I disconnected the humidifier and set the machine in a well ventilated spot to make sure it dried out completely before I turned it on again.

The machine didn't break or crack anywhere and worked just fine last night! I did discover, when I moved the hose just right while putting my mask on, that some of the water had run into the hose. Fortunately, I heard it slosh and elevated the hose high enough to run it back into the humidifier chamber before I got a face full!

Don'tchya just love these Resmeds??? Yup, early on that happened to mine too. An S8, not an S8 II, but the same "body". No humidifier tank water got into mine either. Dang, but these Resmeds are GOOD!!!

Have you thought about putting some of that shelf liner under it so it will grip a little? That would just be cheap insurance.

Gerry, that's a good idea. I recently had to move my bedroom to help take care of a family member who's ill, and I did kind of a quickie setup for my CPAP. It's on kind of a slick side table; I definitely should put something under it to prevent another incident. Thanks for the suggestion!

The 'foam' insert for fridge veggie drawers works great! I also have non-slip shelf liner and bought a non-slip placemat that's perfect too. I keep one in my travel case and the others with my other xPAP stuff.
