Sinus Headache

Post by knicole » Sun Nov 22, 2009 3:21 pm

I have been using the CPAP for about 3 weeks. I was diagnosed with very mild sleep apnea, and likely narcolepsy. My machine was set to 6 originally, and has been lowered twice, and it now at 4. I have the humidity set to 5 (the highest level) and am using the nasal pillows. Everything is super comfortable, and fits fine. I get a sinus headache w/in 5 minutes of using the machine. I have talked to the dr twice about the headaches, and I he lowers the pressure and says try it for 3 weeks. Has anyone else gotten sinus headaches as a result of their machine? I have never had sinus problems in the past. Thanks for any insight.

how do you know its from sinus?
google nasal and sinus irrigation and look at the ads for products

headache may be from mask or straps pressing against head

the pressure setting is no indication of the severity of the apnea

I started feeling that way as I ramped my humidity up, and so dialed it down. Perhaps it's set too high? Just a thought.

I was getting sinus headaches, and had to dial my humidity to "1", I do live in a pretty humid area though. I would dial down the humidity and leave the pressure alone.

Check the humidity in the room you are sleeping in. Those cheap travel battery powered weather stations are great for this. They will give you the temp and humidity. Your humidity could be too high or too low.
If the humidity in your room is extremely low your humidifier may not be able to put enough in.
How much water is left in the chamber in the morning?
Are you getting any moisture in the nasal interface?
