moleskin and swift

Post by Flower51 » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:04 am

Just began using a swift LT .... trying to decide whether I like it more than my swift II Because of rosacea, the one problem w/both is that the headgear rests on my cheeks in the "wrong spot" so the rosacea is redder in the morning on the places it rests. Going to pick up some moleskin or something like that to help soften it. I wrapped it w/cloth napkins and that worked but they were flapping around. LOL. If the moleskin doesn't work I may just get some padding at the fabric store and sew velcro on it. Any other ideas? Terry

Have you tried Pad-a-Cheek? You can get it from our host (cpap.com).

I headed to the local Walgreens today and picked up their generic padded moleskin. Cut out the right sizes for both masks, just where they rest on my cheeks and they feel pretty nice. We'll see how my face reacts in the next day or so. Thanks all, Terry

It seems like the fabric part of the headgear that touches the cheeks tends to break down ( stilll looks good but feels rough)after a short time with use and causes irritation even on average skin. The padacheek or similar fleece seemed to extend the life of the headgear until the headgear got stretched out from use so it is worth looking into this if the Swift otherwise works well.
Using moleskin may work for a short term fix but the adhesive will pull off and create a mess after a few days but by than you find cover it with some non-piling fleece or other material that is skin friendly so it looks like you are on the right track.
