The Devilbiss autoadjust algorithm:
Does not use flow limitations (if I heard properly)
And: Treats a 95% reduction in air flow as a central apnea. An obsturctive, according to Devilbiss is 90% reduction (both 10 seconds). Consequently, pressure will not be raised in response to 95% (or more) reductions.

Bumping this up for you, akcpapguy. You'll find seep webinars there. I hope the sound on those seminars was fixed as promised -- it was unbelievaby horrible on my desktop as well. Still, I learned a lot from them about the DeVilbiss approach to auto titration.

Just to calrify this point, the IntelliPAP AutoAdjust does allow you to change the apnea/hypopnea % which will alter the way to unit detects and responds to events.

Would you mind expanding on this treatment feature a bit more? Here are a couple questions that come to mind:

1) Is that residual or pretreated apneas/hypopneas that are supposed to be entered?

2) I have mostly hypopneas. Based on adjustment of this parameter, how would the Intellipap AutoAdjust treat me differently than someone who has mostly apneas or someone with a hypothetical 50/50 ratio?

Any other points you would like to make about this feature are most appreciated.

1) The IntelliPAP AutoAdjust detects and responds to apneas and/or hypopneas at present time and has the ability to treat every minute when they are sensed.

2) Apneas and hypopneas are equally rated in our algorithm, so our unit responds much as a sleep lab protocol would respond.

My dislike of the DeVilbiss algorithm had nothing to do with it lack of pressure relief -- my 420E has none. I found the Devilbiss algorithm zooming away to the max in the first minutes of my attempts to fall asleep -- very unpleasant, and nothing in the ajustable parameters changed that for me.

The apnea flow percentage adjustment is pure cosmetics, it changes an event defined as apnea into a hypopnea, or vice versa, and that is all it does (you'll find that explained in the seminars as well). With the default setting for apnea being 90% to 95% reduction, everyone had more hypopneas than apneas on that machine. 95% to 100% flow reduction is considered a central apnea by DeVilbiss and is not responded to.
