Remstar Autopap-Why would machine go off?

Post by mboy » Tue Oct 20, 2009 7:38 am

Woke up to no pressure on my auto M last night 2 times.

2nd time, I woke up to a beeping, then shutoff.

My mask was on and hose was connected.

Turned back on and it worked fine after.

I know their is an auto shutoff I have set and I have seen it work and I would probably be dead without breathing that long while sleeping.

First thing that comes to my mind would be a large leak causing the auto shut off thing to kick in.
Mine will beep for a while before it shuts off.

Mask off shutoff---big leak made it seem like mask was off.

Personally, I'd turn the "Auto Off" setting to "off."

I like to keep "Auto off" disabled ("off") so that the machine won't turn off automatically in the presence of a large leak.

I want the machine to keep blowing no matter what, until I turn it off in the morning.

Thanks. Tonight, it goes to Off

I will also download my card and see if Encore pro shows any big leaks.

I have a REMstar Pro so there may not be the same issue with your unit, but just in case...
I no longer seem to have the issue, but I went through a short period where the unit would just stop giving me air, then beep and turn back on shortly after. My RT told me some units (my model) had issues being loose at the jack where the power cord plugs into the machine. When I jogged my hose it was jogging the machine and temporarily disrupting the power source. So, again just in case, make sure all the power connections are firmly in place, even if they look like they are.
I've never had the auto-off operational, so if you continue to have the problem after changing your settings, the above might just be it.

Good info, Scarlet. Yes, it's always good to check regularly to see that every connection is firmly seated.
