Feel like a NEWBIE

Post by chrisp » Sun Oct 18, 2009 9:01 pm

Its been years since I have looked here. Been really busy. What happened with the Rx rules. Now I need a Rx for a mask. What happened ? The socialists have taken over or perhaps the DME Lobby has made things a bit difficult. Oh Well, The good news is: These things last years. I now have over 12,000 hours on my 420e and its still going. I did drop it on the cement once (and it locked up ) but I was able to disassemble it and get it going. My NEW mask (resmed ultra mirage) is five years old tho the headgear is a bit tattered and I thought I would treat myself to a new so here I am . Rx required ! I miss the good ole days.

What is the latest and greatest in Masks and auto units anyway ? What gives the most bang for the $$$$.
I drive them till they can't be fixed anymore (by me). I just keep using a bigger hammer.

I hope to visit more often.

Welcome back!!!

It's so good to see you on the forum again.
I always loved reading you posts about the evil DMEs.

I'm still using the same UMFF that I started out with 4 1/2 yrs. ago. I finally had to put new headgear on it about a month before it's 4th anniversary.......the seal is still working just fine. I have backups but haven't really used any yet.

Yeah, "somebody" put the kabosh to ordering masks without a prescription.
You might be able to get one through http://www.cpapauction.com I don't know if they're requiring an Rx or not. I would presume that you do have yours, though.

Please hang around.

Chris... so good to see you again.

I'm not sure, but I think if you send a copy of your Rx for a machine (any plain old cpap machine Rx will do, no matter how old) to cpap.com, that will allow you to buy a mask from them. I don't think the Rx has to say "and mask" on it. I think a "cpap" prescription covers a mask too, since that's part of a cpap system circuit. I could be wrong about that, but give it a try. Send cpap.com your machine Rx and see if that lets you buy a mask, even though you're not buying a machine.

Ditto to what Den said!
