ResMed Autoset Elite II results
Would one (or more) of you please interpret some results for me...
I'm trialing an Autoset Elite II set at Min pressure of 7.0 and Max pressure of 11.0. EPR is set at "fulltime" with 3 increments of relief. I seemed to sleep fairly well and did not have a dry mouth when I woke up. I've chatted with the ResMed rep., who tells me that the exhalation relief of EPR makes it less likely that one will have mouth leak. Any of you have any thoughts on this?
I got the following results from last night's snooze:
Press = 10.0
Leak = 0.14L/s
AHI = 5.0
AI = 0.4
HI = 4.6

Welcome Willalsosucceed. A first suggestion you are bound to hear from several people is to go to your profile and fill in your equipment, so it shows up at the bottom of every post. For example, your questions will be easier to answer if we know what kind of mask you are using.
The Auto II lets you input the kind of mask you have. All masks have a normal leak rate because they are vented to keep exhaled CO2 flowing out. The Auto II calculates the leak rate after subtracting the normal leak for your mask. So 0.14 l/s can be good or not so good. If the mask has been properly identified to the machine, it's not so good. Now, that represents the level of leakage that you exceeded 5% of the night. So you could have lots of time with no leakage, but 0.14 would be something to work on.
The AI and HI are reasonable, especially on the first night, when most of us wake up with our masks on the floor. There is a rule of thumb, not sure how valid, about aiming for an apnea index under 1 and a hypopnea index under 5, which you hit the first time out of the box.
EPR reduces pressure during exhale. For what it's worth, most people on relatively low pressure, which 7 to 11 is, don't seem to need or like so much exhalation relief. I wouldn't argue with a prescribing doctor, especially if it helps you avoid mouth leaks, but in my expert opinion -- which is to say based on hanging around here for three months -- it is unusual.

Re: ResMed Autoset Elite II results
Thanks for the reply; I appreciate your help.
The mask I am using is the Aura/Headrest/Everest/whatever it is being called these days.
I don't have the machine in front of me so I can't check which mask the machine thinks I'm using. The equipment supplier knows I'm using Everest/Headrest and set the machine for, if I'm remembering correctly, "Ultra."
Rested Gal, where are you????

On the Resmed machines though, I think you have to input the closest Resmed mask, since it would not have other brands of masks in its "list", only Resmeds.
You can use other brands of masks but you have to set it close to a similar Resmed mask on a Resmed machine, as far as I know.
I would think setting it for a Remsed nasal pillows masks like the Swift11 or the Swift LT would work well. Has the equipment supplier seen your mask? Does he/she know it is a nasal pillows mask? Just wondering about that in terms of the setting. Did he/she set it for the Ultra Mirage maybe? That's not a nasal pillows mask as far as I know.

I'm trialing an Autoset with my Headrest too. Wish I had your great numbers!
I'm only better in leaks... set my machine on "Standard" for the Headrest.
I'ts nice to have exhale relief after the 420E,isn't it?

Thanks Rested Gal and, "right back at you!" Thanks for the chat as well.
I noticed what seemed like some exhalation relief but, not much. Still think I'll buy one.
Thanks all!

Re: ResMed Autoset Elite II results
Good suggestion on the mask setting... thanks!
Given that I'm using a Headrest, I'm going to set the Autoset II mask option to "Swift" and see what sort of leak number I get in the morning.
Thanks again for the suggestions.
By the way, "hey Ozij!!! How you be?"
