Mask for high nasal bridge

Post by Irene P. » Thu Oct 15, 2009 12:00 pm

I've read the product reviews, but am asking for some specific advice. My nasal bridge is more pronounced than most, and I need to get a ff mask because I'm mouth breathing. I don't think a hybrid would work because nasal pillows don't work very well for me because of the structure of my nose. I've been considering the Ultra Mirage and others, but would really like suggestions from others who have pronounced nasal bridges. Thanks. Irene

I have a high bridge, but nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe the 75th percentile. I'm comfortable with the Mirage Quattro. More important, it has a screw mechanism with a broad adjustment range that moves the top of the mask in or out to keep the hard parts close to but off the nose. I've got a lot more room I could use if I needed it, so it might be a good mask for someone with an even higher bridge. It's the only mask I know well, so my opinion is of no help in making comparisons.

an experienced mask fitter with a good range of different brands to try would help, you try the masks lying on their bed, with their CPAP set to your pressure, worth paying more for this, IMO
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

Ditto the observation on lying down with CPAP up to pressure. It is meaningless to say that a mask is comfortable in isolation. The only question is whether it's comfortable tightened up to the point where it doesn't leak air when you're in your sleeping position.
