Resmed ResScan Smart Card Reader

Post by My_Dream » Mon Sep 21, 2009 12:41 pm

I recieved a card with my cpap machine but no reader or software. I believe I can go back to a year to gain info the machine stores therefore what is the advantage of purchasing the reader and software? I also read that the software is no longer available, is this true?

If I remember correctly, it will store compliance data for up to one year, and full data for 6 months. I could be wrong on that.

As far as the software goes, They're not allowed to sell it in the US, but you can buy it from this site that is located down under:

I think that I also seen a copy of it for sale on the this site as well: http://www.cpapauction.com/auction-list ... ware-.html but there is only 12 minutes left on that sale and it is one version older.

the machine itself only shows the summary data, which is only somewhat useful. The software will show the detail data to you as a timeline, so you can see exactly when events occurred and can be a lot more helpful for diagnosing things.

If you machine is like mine, it will only store 4 days of detailed data, but 6 months or a year (I forget which) of summary data.

The Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR is compatible w/the earlier AutoScan 5.6 software. The Resmed S8 IIs require ResScan and I would have to go back now to check whether it was 3.4 on up or 3.5 on up that the S8 IIs require. I know the S8 IIs work w/ResScan 3.7 for sure as that is what I am using now, but they also worked w/either 3.4 or 3.5, I just don't remember which. So if you have the S8 II plan on ResScan 3.7 to be sure.

As w/just about anything else, the Resmed software and cable reader are easily available via the internet for any innovative and determined Resmed user. You just have to spend some time searching and asking around.

Is there a fuller discussion of the benefits of getting the software and card reader?

I was convinced enough to just order them both, but I want to be sure, etc. And be able to defend the purchase to my dear wife !!

Any links? My search was not fruitful - I am sure I could find it if I spent more time looking - but I need to go to sleep !

Thanks

This is why the software is great. I've been creating daily detail reports and saving them to pdf's, so I have a detailed history. But them I'm a numbers geek. You know, the kid who played strat-o-matic baseball forever and kept stats on paper....
