Wrist Oximeter without finger piece?

Post by sifr » Wed Oct 07, 2009 4:52 pm

Is there any such thing as a wrist pulse oximeter without the fingertip piece? I'd love to find one that I could use not only while sleeping, but while weightlifting.

I've searched both here and online in general, but everything seems to require the fingertip bit to work.

I read about (but didn't find anywhere) ones that'd attach (via electrode?) to the neck, rather than the finger. That'd be perfect if it exists. Anyone know?

Seems like i remember that there was an Oximeter whose O2 sensor was clipped to the ear-lobe.....sort of like an earring. You might explore that possibility.

I think some pilots use the earlobe clip. Might google oximeter earclip pilot or some combo and see what comes up.

Here is my 2-cents worth on this topic
Turner Medical sell a Nonin 3100 and it comes with a finger sensor.
They also sell a forehead sensor and a earlobe sensor.
The problem is its not cheap. I have a 2500a with the finger sensor on a 3ft wire and
I am happy with it. Hope this gives you a place to start looking.

Really dumb question here... but are you absolutely sure you're referring to an oximeter and not a blood pressure device (there are a lot of wrist ones out there)?
