best night 3 months in...

Post by fishhead » Sat Oct 03, 2009 1:43 pm

well, last night i had my best night so far, after 3 months on xPAP. i finally hit the 0 mark for leaks. it may have been because i finally had to take the hedge trimmers to the moustache (don't worry, carbonman... it's still there, just under control). but more likely was because the $0.99 terry cloth headband i use as a chin strap (a jnk recommendation) had slid up from under my chin and covered my mouth.

AHI = 0.8
AI = 0.0
HI = 0.8
LEAK. = 0.0

anyways, just thought i'd share.

I had that kind of a night last night as well. I felt like framing the graph, or maybe sending it to Mom to put in the box with the kids' old report cards. AI=0 and HI=0.9. The most remarkable thing was that I had no leaks whatsoever. Zero all night long. Two weeks ago, I was asking myself whether rubber cement might work: slather a thin layer on the cushion, a little on my face, then press together. (My lawyer says to add that this is probably a bad idea.) Then I got retitrated and got to lower the pressure to 15, and now the leaks don't seem like such a struggle.

I hear 'ya. The handle bars on my mustache were a small price to pay for needed brain cells.
I'll never get a better bargain than that in life.

I've never had moustache before.....is that the same as mustache....just much smaller??

well, i haven't quite been able to duplicate the 0.0 leaks, but i have been as close as one can get to it. most of the night i'm flat-lined at 0.0, but just a 'hiccup' or two that bumps it up. more importantly, i'm feeling good and sleeping good.

i just wanted to thank everybody for taking the time to post their experiences and suggestions. i know i would not have been able to get to this point without your help and support!
