Each time I check into this forum I read the posts and then immediately click on "Mark These Posts Read". After which I get confirmation that "The Posts On This Forum Have Benn Marked as Read". (or words to that effect)
However, the next time I check back in, I see no indication as to which posts are new since my last check-in. At first I thought the opening page was populated with new posts- however I find that is not correct. The only sure way I have been able to discover was to read the date/time stamp on each and every one of the posts to compare with the last time I remember checking in.
Most of the forum softwares with which I am familiar embolden those postes not yet read-- and normal type for the titles of those read prior. Is there something I am doing wrong- or something I am missing? Is there a way to tell at a glance which messages I have not read? Being new to this forum, I am eager to learn as much as I can, so often check-in several times a day (between appointments) to keep up with the flow of information.
Your help- as always- would be greatly apprecaited

Question on using this Forum
Re: Question on using this Forum
I don't use the method you mention but will say it sounds like to track your reading it would have to use tracking cookies. If your computer erases these cookies or if you are using a different computer each time - that is your problem.
otoh - if you look to the left of the post Subject and directly above the word "by" (Author) there is an "Icon' used for read/unread posts. However, you must click on this Icon to goto the 'next unread' post. If there are no new posts this Icon will not be there. Again you MUST use the same computer.
If you like to jump to a different computer then "All bets are Off".

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Question on using this Forum
Letchworth,
If you look at the bottom of each page there is this Return to CPAP and Sleep Apnea (CLICK HERE TO READ POSTS). If you click there it will take you back to the main page. looking at each Post there is a little box to the left of the subject heading. When you have visited a post and looked at all of the replies there and returned using this method there is no longer a little box. When you see the post with the little box there are new replies to be viewed and you need to click on the little box to take you to where you last looked. Try it It works nicely.

GumbyCT- Yes, I do use multiple computers (& multiple operating systems)-- I will have to check out the effects of that-- Thank you.
Sleepy Taz, thanks for your insights; I never paid attention to those little icons (and I just had my eyes checked!!) I think that is the clue I was looking for. So many forums, so many software packages- still learning this one for sure.
Thanks to both for taking the time to respond- very helpful
