OPERATION DME - HELP!!

Post by RAMBLINMAN » Wed Sep 14, 2005 3:18 pm

Hi All,

Got a call from my DME and it looks like Monday I will be getting my cpap device for the first time. Hopefully it will be the Remstar Auto w/CFlex like I asked for and them saying so. But here's the delemma I'm in......

When Talking with the DME therapist who is comming over my home to deliver and set it up I had asked her if I she also had got a card reader and software with this device and would I be able to get it......well all of a sudden things got alittle tight...and was told by her that the patient doesn't get that and why I would want it as well as her not understanding why I would want to see the numbers.....when all the software does is really just tell you how many hours you used the machine. ( which we all know that the software does allot more ).
Also that she would send me a new card every so often to replace the one in the machine to mail it back to her and that she would mail me back the results ( well if the results are what she said it was meaning just the time it was used ...what good is that ).

Now I might be not sure about this but I think i read on here that when you pull the card out of the Remstar and download it into your PC that it erases the information on the card......THAT'S NOT GOOD...and as all of you might be thinking the same about what i would want to do and that is download the information onto my PC and then send her the card.

Soooooooooooo.....is there a way that you can read the card download the information and still retain the information on the card so when I sent it back to the therapist she get's her information and makes both of us HAPPY...???

has anyone done this and if so is there a safe and secure way to do this...????

Also at some point I intend to get the software and card reader from cpap.com( unless there's is another place to get it ).

Any help on this would be appreciated and thanks again for everyone's time

Ken

Yep. Here from derek:
Find the installation directory for Encore Pro, and open up the Utilities directory (folder). In my case it is the default
C:\Program Files\Respironics\Encore Pro\Utilities
In that folder you will find two scripts:

Erase data after download.reg

Don't erase data after download.reg

To do the appropriate thing, all you have to do is double-click on Don't erase data after download.reg

Are you saying to highlight "Don't erase data after download.reg" script and just double click it?
Is this a exacuteable file...??

So when I download my information this will still be advaliable for others as well to download?

I really don't want the card to erase god know I don't want any more grief with a DME....

It's a registry file. By dbl clicking it'll ask if you want to add to your registry--just say yes.

the registry reset is easy and safe when done as above and will not mess with the info that the DME isn't going to use anyway. (likely scenario anyway)
Just make sure when you are downloading that when it prompts you "do you want to erase data"(after registry tweak) ALWAYS reply appropriately.

what concerns me is your quote:
"........when all the software does is really just tell you how many hours you used the machine...."
Make sure they give you an auto with cflex and not some old straight CPAP machine that does indeed only give compliance. Not ALL models of Remstars give ALL the information. Check the actual machine to make sure it says on the machine that it is what you want!

And talking with a DME about getting software is about a lost cause. You might as well resign yourself to buying it elsewhere. My DME was going to include the software with the machine for "free". That was over a month ago and I have pretty much written that "promise" off.

Good point Snork...

I'm really hoping they aren't lying or jerking me off about what machine I asked for..... (talk about a pissed off man if so )

I guess Monday when the therapist comes over that it is what I asked for and if it's not when then I guess she just wasted her time coming to my home.

Or at least a Pro 2 which will also give you all the data. A regular Pro, without 2 will not. It's not an auto, but will give you all the data an auto does.

It's quite possible that the DME doesn't even know of the "details" option in Encore Pro....
