That's roughly 61 AI*. And now you're under 1.6 AHI.

I'm thinking klockemy is on to something...

*Can't really tell from "stopped breathing" if that's the AI or AHI. I DO wish doctors wouldn't talk down to us!

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

I've been on a C-Pap for 2 years and now a bi-pap for over a year. They started the C-Pap on a pressure of 11, then 12, then 13, then 15.....then they went to the bi-pap with pressures of 22/17....25 being the highest pressure they could go to (as they told me)....Then, I joined Weight Watchers and have lost 57 pounds over a year and 3 months......I began having the symptoms again and they said, I was probably getting TOO MUCH pressure, as the symptoms for over and under pressurized were the same, so they did another sleep study and lowered my pressure to 12/8..... I have found that YOU have to be very involved in your own treatment....I ASKED for another OVERNIGHT OXIMETRY study to see if I was still having "events", so THEY and I would know if the pressure was correct....If I had not asked for and told them I felt it should be done regularly, at least once a year, or when YOU feel there are problems, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ORDERED AND DONE ONE. So, I would ask for another oximetry study, or possibly another sleep study, to see what is happening with you at the current pressure..... Hope this helps.....My husband and I have had a lot of medical problems these past 3 years, and I've learned to read on the internet, use this C-Pap site and BE VERY INVOLVED, INFORMED AND AGGRESSIVE about what is going on with me and my health.....My husband had back surgery, which got infected (not Staph, but Strep) and had to have 2 more back surgeries and then it moved to one of his knees and he had to have 3 more knee surgeries....all this in one year.....SO, I keep journals, names, dates, medications, EVERYTHING, cause this poor brain can't remember all the things that are going on and etc......Good luck

BleepingBeauty replied to another topic I have posted, (HELP! Not Sleeping Thru The Night Anymore) and may have answered my question of does apnea gets worse from this thread.

BleepingBeauty wrote
Since I've had access to my data (with a card reader and software), my numbers started off looking good. A couple of bumpy nights at the beginning, but then for 12 nights in a row, my AHI was less than 5, and six of those nights were under 2. I felt fantastic, for the first time in ages. And then the numbers started going haywire again, and it's been like that since. For the past 13 nights, I've only had one night where my AHI was under 5; the other 12 have shown AHI anywhere from 5.8 to last night's high of 49.4.

Without getting into lots of detail, I'm pretty sure I have Complex Sleep Apnea, which can rear its ugly head in cyclical fashion and raise hell with my therapy. I can't do much about that without acquiring a more sophisticated machine (ASV) designed to deal specifically with CSA, so I just keep going with my doctor's recommended pressure set at 12, hoping things will get better soon. (She's not convinced I have CSA and won't authorize a trial with an ASV machine, nor will she write a scrip for one so I can buy online.)

That's the first time I heard of CSA, and although her numbers are a lot worse than mine are, the concept is the same, Doing fine, good steady numbers, then all of a sudden....BANG! Everything goes crazy. I'm going to have to look into this CSA, and learn a little about it. With MY luck, that's probably what I have.

Optimum pressure......now THAT, could be the problem! When I first started using my cpap, I could feel the air being forced into my nose. NOW, it feels like I have to "suck it in".
Have you cleaned and/or replaced your filters?

LOL!

I'd go buy a lottery ticket if were you, I have a decent relationship with my doc. I've been seeing him on/off the past 15 years for my COPD. If I ask a question, he'll answer it, then I have to have him explain his answer!

Actually, I'm surprised to read that quite a few folks here have problems with their doctors. Personally, I don't put up with that. If a doctor doesn't show me the same respect I show him/her, I find another doc. People seem to forget that doctors are people too, NOT Gods. You have to remind them of that from time to time!

I'll save my $2.

We did the math on this one time. The odds of winning are about the same whether you have a ticket or not.
