Machine Choice

Post by Ozzy » Wed Jul 08, 2009 2:01 am

Hi,
This is the first time i have posted as I only came across your site while researching for a replacement machine. I would like to get feedback on what machine I should go for. For the last 9 years i have been using a Resmed Autoset T however i can no longer get it serviced and I need to replace it urgently.
The 2 machines i am looking at are the:
Resmend S8II Spirit with Humidifier
Remstar M Series with A Flex incl Humidifier
And is it worth getting the software & reader for them?

Cheers!

Hi Ozzy! Welcome to the forum. The wealth of information in the archives is vast. And the debate over the best machine continues. Hopefully, you will hear pretty soon from some of the more knowledgeable people. If not, keep bumping your post because the messages come in very fast around here and your query can get lost in the deluge. The one issue I'm qualified to talk about is the data gathering. Getting a data capable machine is a must. In 2 years of therapy, I've tried nearly 10 masks. I always have to check the data to see if I'm getting the necessary therapy with these masks. It's so helpful to know if your episodes of apnea and hypopnea are being held down to a safe level. By all means, get a machine with data capability.

Thanks for the advice looks like from what i have read so far getting a data capable machine is a must. I beleive both machines i am looking at have that feature. Is there one software that performs better than the others? This might help me decide which machine or can you use different software on different machines??

I would look for a CPAP that has a long warranty, also if you intend to camp out, one that will also accept 12 volts DC is helpful
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

You may want to keep in mind that ResMed is no longer selling their software to just anyone, unless you have a prescription for it. You can purchase the software from cpap Australia. I did and it only took a little over a week to get it and it's cheaper too.

I can purchase the Resmed S8 with the software as a bundle here in Sydney from my Dr with the humidifier price is allot higher than what i have seen been sold in the US! Unfortunately i cannot purchase from the US as they will not ship Resmed product.
Thanks for the feedback! I have found this site excellent and very informative.
