Ever since I got my system 2 weeks ago, I've been struggling with that horrible chin strap. Then, thanks to Rooster and others, I decided to try taping. What a difference! I feel less confined, it doesn't slip, and I actually got some sleep! It partially came off about 5 a.m., but still, I am unaware of much waking between 10:30 and 5! I feel better today.
Even with my mouth taped, I did get bubbles of air entering my mouth from the back. I'm learning how to force them back up to exhale, but they are disturbing. Why is that happening? I know it wasn't from mouth breathing, because I was taped....
Taping really helped!
Re: Taping really helped!
Never experienced "bubbles"... Sometimes I'll get "blowfish", where your mouth fills with air and your cheeks puff out like a..well...you know. That tends to loosen the tape. (Sometimes I test the seal by holding my nose and doing that on purpose before I put the mask on. So I can fix any weak areas before masking and sleeping.)katcw wrote: I did get bubbles of air entering my mouth from the back.
I don't know of any way to prevent it (or bubbles), but you will probably stop doing it "automatically" after a while.
The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Thanks to a fellow post-er some time back, it's actually worked for me to train myself to keep my tongue placed behind my upper front teeth. And Now I'm no longer doing the "bubble" thing, as you described it.
Give it a try!

LinkC: Yes, blowfish describes it even better! Same thing. Hope it goes away by itself in time.
And yes, I keep my tongue on my upper palate behind my front teeth, but the back still somehow lets air through....
Thanks!

Now do yourself one better and take another tip from Rooster: Learn to use a full face mask. I did and it's great.katcw wrote:........ Then, thanks to Rooster and others, I decided to try taping. ........
You will not have bubbles or blowfish with a full face mask.
Taping. Yechh.
