Feeling worse now with Remaster plus machine

Post by skasdorf » Tue Apr 03, 2007 11:47 am

I did the sleep study and the machine I took home for the test made me feel 110% better. When I received my machine The Remaster plus M series I started to feel worse then before i.e. waking up tired, waking up during the night. I had my Dr. reschedule me to have my sleep study done again. And after doing that the sleep study provider stated the machine was set to all the right settings and I just needed time to adjust to it. Well it has been 6 weeks and I still feel bad, not a single day where I wake up like I did with the test machine and feel great. Anyone else experience this or know of any suggestions???

What pressure is your machine set to?
Do you have a humidifier?

If your profile is correct, I also notice that your machine doesn't have C-Flex (which would make your breathing more comfortable at night).

Personally, I would be screaming at my doctor and DME to get a better machine......AT LEAST the REMstar Pro 2.

What mask are you using?
If it's a nasal mask, you could be leaking air out your mouth at night and losing all of your therapy air.

More information, please.

Everything that Den wrote, and, find out what the "test" machine was. That info should be in somebody's records.

What Linda said...I would definitely find out what machine was used in the test, get back with the group, let them know what kind it is, and they can give you some ideas about what to do next.

And what mask you used in the test and what you have now. This game can only be played by changing one thing at a time. Jim

Let's not be so quick to condemn the machine. There are numerous examples of folks here who mostly just needed to get their machine adjusted differently. (Right, bluegrassfan?)

Of course, if I were you, skasdorf, I'd demand to know the make and model of the machine I'd slept well with, and then I'd get one (one way or another). Sometimes it's just easier to ante up, rather than fight the system which stacks the deck to provide you the lowest priced, lowest quality machine made. Being unnecessarily tormented night after night because of someone else's neglect is something I just personally try to avoid. The folks you've been dealing with for your apnea obviously don't care much about your treatment -- all the more reason you should.

Regards,
Bill

The data printout from your test machine is a part of your medical records. In the US you have a LEGAL right to a copy of your medical records. Ask for a copy. Who supplied the test machine? And the mask?

If "they" aren't forthcoming w/the copies and information you ask for send them a WRITTEN LETTER via CERTIFIED, RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED mail. They can't ignore that written request w/o placing themselves in line for sanction or discipline. And you have the proof of your request: a copy of the letter and proof that it was recevied via the Certified return receipt.

That printout should provide the answers you seek. In your letter you should also request that you be provided with the exact same equipment that you did so well with when you did the test. (Assuming this was a home sleep study test).

Do you have insurance and is your insurance paying for this testing and equipment?
