I'm located in Ontario, Canada and would like to ask about a $275.00 coverage that I took when I purchased my CPAP equipment. Since the insurance company requested the original receipt and was out of pocket for total amount I was quick to send it in without remembering to make a copy to see the proper termanology of the charge. When I asked about it, I was told the it give me, free change of settings( I do myself), mask trial loans for a week and print outs of my settings, the rest was sort of mumbled and didn't quite get the whole shpeel.
Is anyone familiar with this charge and know what it's called and what it entitles?
Thanks

Re: Question re addition charge
I'm from Ontario as well. Is this a charge from the DME? I've been doing a trial with the Resmed Escape (that's the only Remed machine they use for demo) but I hope to be purchasing the Elite II this week. I've been trying different masks for 4- 6 weeks. In that time they put me on an APAP for 2 weeks because I was getting a lot of head-aches at the original titration level. I have the 'tentative' bill in front of me now and over & above what OHIP covers, I'm getting the Rescan Software, CardReader, Mirage Active LT mask, Elite II machine for specific amounts (I don't think we can mention dollars & cents in a post). I do not have private insurance so will be out of pocket, more than enough. At least Ontario is one of 3 provinces that help out. I see no charges for future servicing.
I am debating the $200 for the extended 5 year warranty on the Elite II, since OHIP only provides this coverage every 5 years.
I just called my DME and they don't charge for the one week trial of masks in the future, or help with the adjustment of settings or understanding the software results, once I get them. So I suspect, like all establishments, your DME chooses to charge this fee.

Re: Question re addition charge
Yes this was from the ProResp (DME). Now that you mention it, it may have been extended 5 year warranty and to make it sound as if I was getting more for my money they had mentioned free mask trial etc. I was lucky enough to have Sunlife cover all expenses including this fee but was curious as to what the other benifits might be for that charge.
