After 4 month 100% compliance...

Post by bob80120 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 1:01 pm

What a huge positive difference CPAP has made for me. I no longer have the all day headaches, wake up in fog, and feel like I need to be put in an institution. I could never go back. My average night on CPAP is 9 hours (and maybe this is part of the issue.)

However, in my quest for perfection and on my road to normalcy, I have a new issue. After 4 months of 100% compliance, I am starting to see increases in the number of Hypopneas, OA's and a couple of NonResponsives. My AHI is still under 5, but for the first 3 months it was consistently under 2. No real issues with large leaks.

Although I dont feel significantly different after waking (over the past few months), I am starting to feel some daytime and evening upper respiratory discomfort, like heartburn.

About 2 months ago, I switched to Swift LT mask and really like it (with mouth taping). The couple of times that I have used my FF Quattro Pro, the numbers are even higher.

My CPAP titration was 14. My Remstar Auto APAP range is 12-18, Aflex=3, and I dont use the ramp feature - but at the numbers above 14, the AHI, OA, Hypopneas get even worse. Starting tonight, I am capping the max at 15.

The only thing I can come up with is a slight issue with nasal congestion. I am using the rinses and cant tell if it helps or not.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

It might be time for a new mask. Your seal may be degrading. You should look into that. My seals only last about 3 months.

CONGRATULATIONS ON ALL THE REST!!!!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)
