should I upgrade from 420G to 420E? does any travle alot ?

Post by digitalgeek » Thu Sep 08, 2005 10:52 am

I have the 420G which provides fixed pressure. I have the option to upgrade to a Automatic pressure 420E or another model. Before i spend the money, i would like to hear from people on their experiences. Does anyone use the software? Is it useful?

In addition, I travel a lot and consider the 420 to be large when travelling with Humidifier. Any suggestion on other smaller APAP machines to travel with?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Upgrading to the E from the G, especially if you can do this without charge or, with a small charge, is a great plan. The E can function in auto mode or, in straight CPAP mode. Also, it records data that can be reviewed/analyzed in either mode.

I don't think you will find a smaller auto unit for travelling. I find travelling with my 420E very easy -much easier than when I travelled with my RemStar.

The Silverlining software is great; very helpful for figuring out what is going on with you during sleep.

I would not give up my 420E for any other machine.

My 0.2c worth. If you like the 420G & can upgrade to an E go for it.

As for travel, the comments from fost folk are that the 420 with h/h is as small as xPAP can get.

I have an S8 Escape but not the 3i h/h yet (is going to be on its way soon I hope).

I am interested in trying that combo out as a travel unit - I am not sure if I will be able to get my hands on a 420E with h/h to do a comparison (not anytime soon). I would like to though.

I will report back on the S8 3i combo though but it will be weeks away..

2 words: DO IT!

3 words: GO FOR IT!

Longer: I love my 420e and travel about once a month or so. The 420e and humidifier came with a nice soft-sided travel case that holds everything, 420e, HH, mask, hose, electrical connectors (thanks to cpap.com, who I ordered from). The software is, IMHO, invaluable! It is not a problem for me to carry my 420e from bedroom to computer room, plug it in to the computer, do the download and interpret data.

This therapy WORKS!!!

Use whichever mask is most comfortable for you.

The 420E has a sensor tube that runs inside of the main air hose. I believe that you current 420G does not have this sensor line. So, you will need the appropriate hose for the 420E -it should come with the machine.
