I woke up with two HUGE welts on my forehead from the cpap mask. Why is this happening? and what can I do to stop it? They are awful looking!!

It's kind of hard to answer a question like that without any additional information.
Wanna try again.......this time with some more specifics......which mask, what pressure are you using, how tight do you have your mask......etc., etc.

There are several posibilities - 1 - your straps are too tight, 2 - your skin is reacting to the what is touching it.

1- loosen those straps - they don't need to be that tight
2- put a piece of cotton between your skin and the piece touching you

I woke up with more welts this morning despite putting cotten between the plastic parts on my forehead and my skin. I look like I've been beat up. I'm getting really frustrated. I'm taking my machine and mask to DME tomorrow and having them check the settings, mask, data etc......noone ever showed me how loose was too loose and in all reality I'm probably putting it on wayyy too tight, but I don't want leaks, either.....also I may see about getting a chin strap while there tomorrow too.....

thanks for listening!!

There shouldn't be any "plastic parts" touching your forehead......there should (presumably) be some kind of silicone pads. But then, you didn't tell us what kind of mask it is or anything else for us to go on, so it's kind of hard to be of much help.
Is it a full face mask or one that covers (or seals to) the nose?

Good luck.
