My M series auto machine stopped working this morning when I normally turned off the machine. It started beeping with a msg Service Required. Even after removing power, wait some time, and apply power, it comes back up with the same msg.
I can get into the Setup menu, without any errors, and see all the settings, even modify them and the modification gets saved ok. But when I pressed the middle button to get back to the normal operating mode, I get the same Service Required msg with the repeating beeps.
Anybody have seen this before? Is there a way to see the error code of this msg?
I do not know if I would be able to get this repaired quickly (or at all), I have since changed insurance and the dme is different too. The old dme may not act promptly or act all, and since I bought this through a dme I think I can only go through them to the manufacturer. Any ideas are welcome.

best thing to do would be to contact your orginal dme, you might be able to get a whole new machine depending on how long it's been. if they want to try and fix it ask about a loner

Re: Respironics M series Auto Service Required -- HELP
My current insurance / DME said I need to deal with my previous dme from whom the machine was bought, though I had no business relationship with them for 8+ months. After contacting them I took the machine to the old dme. The machine was in warranty, and they could verify the unit was broken. They would send the machine over for repair, may take ~2 weeks; but agreed to provide a loaner. They could not locate a loaner, so instead gave me a brand new machine, and said I keep the new one.
Teir service was superb! They are a regional dme, Brannons. I got the machine the same day. It was lucky that I noticed the failure of the machine early in the morning when I turned it off. I have gone over one year on cpap now without missing a single night of usage.
In the process, I also learned the new medicare policy. Even if you had never got a machine under medicare before, they would cover a new one only if if the first one was more than 5 years old. Previously I had read in this forum that medicare would cover the first new machine thru them without the above condition. This may be a policy change this year.
This brings up the interesting problem: since the machine warranty is only for 2 years, what would medicare do if it fails after 2 years? Anybody has any experience?

No real experance "yet" but was TOLD by one person on the phone with Medicare (for what that is worth, have had answers change depending on who I was talking to)that after the warrenty time (2 years) and five years if it broke that Medicare would pay for the repair. If the factory said it could not be repaired then they would pay for a new one (even though it had not been 5 years) again going through the 13 month capped rental even though you had years of compliance data.feeling_better wrote: This brings up the interesting problem: since the machine warranty is only for 2 years, what would medicare do if it fails after 2 years?
