Hi Slinky, I have the same problem. Now I use a notebook, and keep my old PC for the kids.

No matter what the promises, my oldest granddaughter ALWAYS downloads something or other, she's notorious for it, and bingo, there goes the PC again. D'oh.

Now we've wireless internet, needs a plug in drive or chip or whatever it is, and I just don't let them in on that when they're here, they can use it offline for word docs or graphics or whatever. Once I get a chance to load Encore SW onto my notebook & don't need that PC at all, they can then go online and destroy to their heart's content!

Although I have set up their own login, and am hoping one of my (geekier) sons can perhaps set up some block where they can go online but not download.

Don't believe the little tykes promises, downloading's in their blood these days, it's instinctive! Can't help themselves!

Slinky, I don't have the grandkids/comp problem yet and our son finds DH and me to be the problem children on the machine. But I do love my 14" comp which sits on my lap every day of my life--it's the best machine I ever had and was cheap (cheap is the operative word).

DS installed malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org on our machines. He had used it to clean up a machine that had over 9000 infestations of various vermin on the machine of an acquaintance. Apparently, it's worth a try and is free unless you want the more advanced version which is still inexpensive.

Hoping you have success--one way or another--soon!
