Does Ins ever pay for software?

Post by lanndi » Mon Jun 01, 2009 10:09 am

Something I read somewhere on here (how's that for accuracy?!) led me to think you should have your doc prescribe the software. From other reading, I thought it was up to each of us to go out and get the software on our own.

What benefits are there from having doc prescribe software? Does insurance sometimes pay for it?

This might be a question for your insurance company. I know in my own case, the insurance company claims the software is "not medically necessary" and they won't pay a cent for it.

It's EXTREMELY RARE that they will. I've only read of a couple of people that managed it (in 4 years). The problem is, there's no insurance code for it......and they don't pay for things that aren't coded.

The question is....does ANYONE pay for any software anymore?

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

I most certainly did -- out of pocket, with no help from insurance. If you didn't pay for yours, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Same here. I wouldn't hold my breath but maybe the prices would come down if the manufacturers knew their software was paid for instead of pirated.
