ResMed AutoSet II/Swift LT 4 Her Compatiblity???

Post by elg5cats » Fri May 22, 2009 10:18 pm

This week I got a Swift LT for Her. The user guide states "The Swift LT is not compatible for use with ResMed AutoSet CS 2 and VPAP Adapt SW devices." It doesn't say why. The AutoSet II has a Swift mask setting. I also found a ResMed online listing noting the Swift LF is compatible with the ResMed AutoSet II and one that it is not. Does anyone know if there are problems associated with the Swift LT 4 Her and the AutoSet II? Compatibility links are included below.

As it turns out the AutoSet CS 2 and its sequel, the VPAP Adapt SV, each have design limitations relative to mask resistance and dynamic patient flow targeting.

Fortunately, those design issues don't apply to your AutoSet II, which targets gradual pressure changes rather than dynamically-averaged patient flow.

Thanks SWS, I wasn't sure if the AutoSet II and the AutoSet CS 2 were the different machines or different "spelling" of the same machine.........good to know I can move forward with mask experimentation. Thanks again!!!!

That very same thing confused me too at first. Thought I'd done messed up getting an incompatible mask for my machine. But then realized that the AutoSet CS 2 isn't our machine. So far my Swift for Her has worked well with my Autoset...although I am using something else now that seems more comfortable...my nares were getting sore...I could not have used the Swift for Her at all without the lanolin cream.

BTW, your avatar is doing that "inkblot" thing to me again...but it can't beat me...I KNOW what it is!!

I think it would be nice if the compatibility warning specifically noted does not apply to Auto Set II since there are 2 machines with very similar names. So far I'm impressed with the Swift LT 4 Her. at first it was hard to exhale against the air pressure, but I adjusted to that sensation..It is a perfect fit and doesn't irritate my nose at all. I wasn't expecting it to be so light, comfortable and easiy. I was adamant I would never have the air blowing directly into my nose!!! It does seem a little fragile, so hopefully will last a while.

My kitty KoKo Avatar is ghostly visiting you. I will have lost her 2 years ago next Saturday. She is my heart kitty, so I miss her dearly......still have 2 of her kittens who will be 17 next month!!!! Just remember those are beautiful blue eyes peering out from the blanket with a greeting and kitty smile.

Also, here's a chart that shows Resmed mask menu selections for any given Resmed PAP machine. Note your mask on page three, in that last column:
http://www.resmed.com/us/assets/html/ma ... c=patients

So for the S8 AutoSet II, your "Swift LT For Her" translates to the "SWIFT" selection on the machine's mask setup menu.

I have 9 cats, all brought in from our pasture when we lived in another city, when they were about 3 weeks old. They were all babies of feral cats. We cleared our property completely, after I brought in the last litter of three kittens, so that rattle snakes wouldn't have a place to hide (one bit one of my horses on the nose and he was very very sick for a while) and so that cats would stop having babies on our property. The oldest of those "kittens" is now 12 years old and the youngest of those "kittens" is eight years old . Because our cats have always been indoor cats, they usually live to about 20 years old.

So it is sort of silly for me not to recognize a cat doing it's cat thing under a blanket. I think it is KoKo's markings that throw me off each time...and the fact that I was imagining her being a huge ocean wave or something, for so long Anyway, I LOVE cats and know you must get a huge amount of happiness from all of them now and in memories.

Nine cats........that's a lot of purring, and cat litter!!!! Most I've had at once was 6...KoKo is a Himalyan. They become fragile and seem to maximize the lifespan between 17-18 if not younger. KoKo's was a sealpoint so her mask and points (paws/tail/face) were dark brown and her body a cream color. During the winter her points became darker as well as as she aged. They do give wonderful company and never leave once they have our hearts.

Meow,

For all the treatment options these xPAP manufacturers manage to develop they sure don't have much imagination at all when it comes to naming their various models!!!

That's for sure, does leaving one questioning the mindset of the manufacture. Likely some perceived marketing tactic disconnect from the end user. But then again, I guess we could be applying a Bissell, Dirt Devil, Kenmore, Kirby or Hoover every night......Essenergy, Eureaka, Reliable might not be so bad names from the other air blower types.
